Join Grammy-nominated harpist Yolanda Kondonassis (IAA 78-82) and the Arts Academy String Orchestra for the world premiere of Terra Infirma, an environmentally-themed concerto by acclaimed composer Reena Esmail. Conductor Andrew Hilary Grams will lead this stirring new work, which features Kondonassis in the unusual dual role of harpist and percussionist.
This multimedia presentation, with projections by designer Camilla Tassi, is an urgent call to remember the beauty and fragility of our planet's climate. The composition is influenced by Esmail's recent experience with the Los Angeles fires, and Kondonassis's extensive work in environmental advocacy.
Following the concert, Kondonassis, Grams, and the Orchestra will record Terra Infirma for commercial release on the Grammy Award-winning Azica label. The entire process, from initial workshops to the premiere and recording, is being captured by a professional film crew for an upcoming documentary. The Terra Infirma Project is generously supported by the Allen B. Cutting Foundation.
IPR listeners are eligible for (4) free tickets to select performances at Interlochen Arts Academy.
