Log Cabin Day on Old Mission Peninsula
Log Cabin Day on Old Mission Peninsula
Take part in Michigan's statewide Log Cabin Day at the 1842 Dougherty Old Mission House at 18459 Mission Road on Sunday, June 29th from 11am to 4 pm. Go back in time to 1842 when Rev. Dougherty, Chief Agosa, and the Odawa and Ojibwe built this historic house to 1910. Explore where the Old Mission Peninsula fruit industry began, the former inn, family summer home, outbuildings, and demonstration garden.
View unusual pure American chestnut trees while you hike through the fifteen acres. Play croquet on the lawn or eat cookies from the pavilion while you enjoy the old time music offered by Angus MacDonald on his accordion at 1 pm. Take a selfie as Rev. Peter Dougherty and his wife, Maria. Free admission at the Dougherty Mission House during Log Cabin Day.
Discover where Old Mission Peninsula earned its name!
Find more activities, music and demonstrations at the Hesler Log Cabin and Mission Point Lighthouse from 10 am to 3 pm.
