Housing Trust of Benzie's Cottages at Corning Groundbreaking Ceremony
Housing Trust of Benzie's Cottages at Corning Groundbreaking Ceremony
The Housing Trust of Benzie will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Cottages at Corning on Thursday, September 11 at 5:00 PM at the corner of 9th Street and Corning Avenue in Frankfort, MI. The event is open to the public.
About the Cottages at Corning
The Cottages at Corning will offer four thoughtfully designed cottages, a mix of single-story and two-story layouts, arranged around a shared green space. A pergola donated by Weaver Barns will enhance the landscape as a distinctive design feature, and the homes will feature a color palette of sea slate, sage, and driftwood tones that reflects the character of Northern Michigan’s lakeshore.
Prospective buyers should connect with the Housing Trust’s partner, Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA), for purchase information. See link here.
Why This Project Matters
Across Northern Michigan, working families are being priced out of the communities they serve. Teachers, nurses, EMTs, tradespeople, and other essential workers often commute long distances for work due to the lack of attainable housing. Community Land Trusts (CLTs), like the Housing Trust of Benzie, offer a proven, community-centered solution.
