About the Book
In a tense showdown between community interests and values and Mython Corporation's ambitious plans to extract one-square mile of a coastal dune on the shores of one of North America's Great Lakes, a grassroots movement of resistance forms. Local tribes, residents, and citizen groups set up camp at the foot of the dunes to block the corporation’s mining. Confrontation, lawsuits, and battles end up in the lap of a circuit judge who must decide not only the face himself but the fate of the dune, perhaps even earth itself.
“Jim Olson’s allegory is a masterful display of great story telling… a rollicking great yarn.”—Keith Schneider, New York Times Correspondent
“It’s all here: water, myth, environmental destruction met with fierce compassion.”—Michael Delp, Co-editor Emeritus, Made in Michigan Book Series, Wayne State University Press
“An amazing and thoroughly entertaining kind of colloquy of a novel, a conversational yet probing Socratic debate about what has value and meaning in life.”—Doug Stanton, #1 New York Times best-selling author
