Benzonia Academy Lecture Series: “Women, Power And The American Food Revolution” Presented By: Laura Shapiro
“Women, Power And The American Food Revolution” will be presented on Thursday, August 10th, at 7:00 p.m. by Laura Shapiro as part of the Benzie Area Historical Society’s Benzonia Academy Lecture Series. The lecture will be offered in person at The Mills Community House in Benzonia, live on Zoom, and recorded for later viewing on the Historical Society’s website www.benziemuseum.org.
Laura Shapiro is currently working on a book that will have a chapter on the food revolution — a topic she loves because it touches on just about everything important in the story of American eating habits. Here in Benzie County we’re blessed with wonderful farmers’ markets, but it’s easy to forget that all those beautiful melons and radishes represent an ongoing and truly radical challenge to the food system.
