IPR Live and the Farm Club present the first classical pop-up event of the summer June 13 at 2:00 pm. Interlochen Arts Academy graduates Joe Skerik, viola, and Kyle Stachnik, cello, will be joined by friends and relatives to present selections from Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations (arranged by Sitkovetsky) and the String Sextet No. 1 by Johannes Brahms.
The two friends have been playing together since middle school in Traverse City, and in September are both embarking on advanced studies: Joe at the Paris Conservatory of Music, and Kyle at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
They will be joined by IAA Viola Instructor Renee Skerik (that’s right, Joe’s mom!), and violinist John Gilbert, Professor of Violin at Texas Tech University. They are both IAA graduates from 1982 and 1978, respectively.
Also performing will be fellow students Satoka Abo, violin and Jason Ma, cello from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and violist Brian Isaacs, Yale School of Music.
Bring chairs and a blanket for this outdoor concert in the casual, family-friendly locale of the Farm Club, 10051 Lake Leelanau Drive, Traverse City June 13 at 2:00 pm.
