Trombonist XiuZhang Charlie Cao was happy when he found out he would perform a concerto this year with the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra.
The junior from Yantai City in Shandong Provence, China competed in multiple rounds of a competition at the Interlochen Arts Academy and was one of three students chosen to appear as a soloist during a concert which will happen this week. XiuZhang Charlie Cao is a trombone student of Tom Riccobono.
He is looking forward to playing a concerto by Ferdinand David with the ensemble of his peers.
When Charlie Cao isn't busy playing the trombone, he enjoys activities with his friends.
"I like to play basketball," he said. "And listen to music."
