Yimei Liang likes being at Interlochen where she's surrounded by forests.
The Interlochen Arts Academy junior told us that she loves studying music quietly here.
Yimei, who is originally from Beijing, performed the final two movements of Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata no. 28 in A minor, op. 101.
She said she likes the third movement because it uses una corda (the left pedal) to create a muted sound, which is unusual for Beethoven's music.
Listen to her complete performance and interview in Studio A.
When she's not practicing or studying, Yimei plays badminton and reads books. Right now, though, she's very interested in poetry, because poetry helps her understand more about art and music.
Yimei Liang is a student of TJ Lymenstull.
Stefan Wiebe engineered this edition of Studio A.
