Riley Beernink is the new band director at East Jordan Public Schools, teaching 6th-grade to 12th-grade students.
He spoke with Classical IPR's Tyler Castellanos about his journey as a musician, which began when he picked up the trombone in middle school. His passion for music eventually led him to pursue a music education and trombone performance degree at Central Michigan University.
Beernink described his plans for East Jordan Public Schools' music program, including bringing back the marching band and introducing his students to great music and musicians.
