'Working differently' with the Cochran & McAllister guitar duo

Guitarists Matthew Cochran and Matthew McAllister stopped by Classical IPR to talk about their U.S. and European tour, their use of modified guitars, and the unique challenges of performing together as a cross-continental duo.

This Wednesday, the Cochran & McAllister Guitar Duo will take the stage at The Music House in North Williamsburg.

Scottish guitarist Matthew McAllister and American guitarist Matthew Cochran formed their duo in 2023 after more than a decade of friendship and collaboration.

Since then, they’ve quickly gained recognition as a compelling voice in the guitar world, known for their distinctive programming, such as their popular arrangement from the science fiction film "Interstellar," and their warm, engaging stage presence.

Cochran & McAllister launched their duo project in 2023 with tours across Scotland and the United States. This summer, they’re preparing for a tour spanning the U.S., Scotland, Germany, and other parts of Europe.

The duo stopped by Studio A to chat with Nancy Deneen about their upcoming performance at The Music House in North Williamsburg, the details of their international tour, and their uniquely modified guitar, affectionately nicknamed “The Beast.”

Tickets to the performance can be purchased online or reserved by calling 231-938-9300.
