IPR is hosting a community event to answer questions about climate and energy in northern Michigan. IPR climate reporter Izzy Ross will lead a discussion with members of the public and Sarah Mills, director of the University of Michigan’s Center for EmPowering Communities, who works at the intersection of energy and land use policy, with a focus on rural communities.
The event will take place at the Botanic Gardens at Historic Barns Park at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28.
The discussion will be recorded and aired on IPR during NPR's 2025 Climate Week from June 9 - 13. The theme is "where we live,” and coverage from across the country will look at the limits that climate change places on homes and communities and explore how it shapes decisions on where, and how, people decide to live.
