Northern Michigan hospitality workers may be eligible for relief funds if they have been impacted by the ice storm thanks to the Michigan Hospitality Foundation.

Originally put in place to provide support during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Michigan Hospitality Industry Employee Relief Fund has since expanded to include many other struggles workers may face, including natural disasters.

According to the foundation's Executive Vice President Amanda Smith, demand for relief has been high in the last month.

"They have opened up money to give $500 to each applicant after we verify who they are and that they are indeed a hospitality employee," Smith explained.

The foundation also plans to give $100 gift cards to workers, according to Smith.
