From the news director: Thank you, Tyler!

IPR morning news host Tyler Thompson heads off today for a new opportunity.

Tyler signs off

We'd like to take a minute just to say thanks to him for all those early mornings bringing news to northern Michigan.

In his time at IPR, Tyler brought listeners serious reporting, like his series on the difficulties of finding and paying for child care in northern Michigan.

He also had some fun on the air, like when he covered Mr. Chainsaw Professional Wrestling in Kalkaska.

And he connected us to this place, through things like "Maritime Time," his weekly segment on Great Lakes lore.

Thursday, April 10, was Tyler's last day on the air. He's taken a new position with The Alluvion, the relatively new performance venue in Traverse City. We wish him well.

Dan Wanschura will be interim host of "Morning Edition" while we search for a new full-time host. Find information about that job here!

Thanks, Tyler, for your work these last couple years, and best wishes.

Ed Ronco is IPR's news director.
