Love local news? Maybe you should be our next morning news host

Seriously, look at that. Do a morning show, hop in the car, end up here. Not a bad deal, really

Come be an indispensable morning voice for people in one of the most beautiful parts of the United States.

Interlochen Public Radio seeks its next morning news host. We are looking for someone to lead a conversation with listeners every weekday morning, making the most of opportunities for local news throughout our weekday broadcast of NPR’s Morning Edition.

We are looking for a host who is …

  • … a journalist who guides listeners through local news and events, interviews local newsmakers and IPR journalists, takes the audience into the community through feature stories and seamlessly bridges the gap between local and national programming.
  • … a warm and authoritative presence on the air and a collaborative, supportive colleague off the air.
  • … someone who can conduct professional and personable interactions with listeners through digital platforms and other means.

Working with the news director, the morning host makes weekday mornings from 7-9 a.m. into locally relevant, must-hear radio for the people of northern Michigan.

We can offer you …

  • … a competitive salary and benefits, including a robust retirement plan.
  • … an opportunity to shape the future of morning news on our station.
  • … a creative community at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
  • … Traverse City, which punches well above its weight in arts, culture, food and community life.
  • … a naturally beautiful setting full of deep woods, soaring sand dunes, countless trails and deep blue lakes you can’t see across.

Interlochen Public Radio is a listener-supported service of Interlochen Center for the Arts, operating news and classical music services on two separate radio signals. We are part of the Michigan Public Radio Network and an NPR member station.
