Keith Aleo discusses 'Paddle to the Sea' ahead of Interlochen's performance

Interlochen's Keith Aleo joined Classical IPR to preview the Interlochen percussion ensemble’s performance of 'Paddle to the Sea' featuring Third Coast Percussion’s album.

Percussionist Keith Aleo recently visited Classical IPR studios to give listeners a sneak peek into the story of "Paddle to the Sea" and share details about the upcoming performance of the film score by Interlochen’s percussion ensemble.

"Paddle to the Sea," a children’s book by Holling C. Holling, is a story about a wooden toy boat carved by a young Canadian boy that sails from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. In 2018, the Chicago-based Third Coast Percussion was commissioned to compose a film score adaptation of the story.

Thursday's free concert features a retelling of the story narrated by Interlochen Director of Theatre Bill Church alongside a live performance of the album by the Interlochen Arts Academy Percussion Ensemble.
