IPR asked people from across the political spectrum: "What are you anticipating over the next four years?" We hope to keep hearing from them as those four years unfold.

It's a new project we're calling "The Next Four Years," with the goal of not only hearing opinions, but seeing how (or whether) those opinions change throughout the second Trump administration.

Why now?

Since taking office in January, the Trump administration has made a number of swift — and often polarizing — changes to how the federal government functions.

"Right after the election, I heard people saying such different things," said IPR's Cheryl Bartz, who gathered the voices you'll hear in this introductory segment. "Some people were saying 'It's the end of democracy as we know it,' and other people were saying 'Just relax, turn off the news, and watch the prices go down.' I wanted to find out what a wider spectrum of folks in northern Michigan were thinking."

We asked northern Michiganders: What do you anticipate from the next four years?

We hope to continue bringing you voices like these periodically throughout the next four years.
