Guest conductor Na'Zir McFadden leads the ensemble in two new works by composer Jessie Montgomery. Her piece "Rounds" (2022) was commissioned for pianist Awadagin Pratt who joins the DSO for the Detroit premiere.
The concert also features the Brazeal Dennard Chorale, Florence Price’s "The Oak" and a world premiere by composer Kris Johnson. "Marlowe's Wings: Detroit's Champion of Change" by Johnson honors the memory of Detroit community leader Marlowe Stoudamire.
