A new album, "Aloft," marks the debut of pianist and composer Bryn Roberts on Elastic Recordings.
After years of performances in the Brooklyn and Portland jazz scenes and collaborating with various singer-songwriters, Roberts has brought together a trio for his newest album including bassist Matt Penman and Interlochen alumnus drummer Quincy Davis. Bryn Roberts is the Hamann Family Jazz Piano Chair at Interlochen Center of the Arts.
"Aloft" was recorded in Brooklyn, where Roberts lived for fifteen years, highlighting his long-standing relationships with fellow musicians. The album features several original compositions and Roberts's interpretations of two standards: Kurt Weill's "My Ship" and a take on Cole Porter's "You Do Something to Me."
"Aloft" is available and released worldwide on Friday, September 27th, 2024 on Elastic Records.
