Dennis Lennox Steps Down As Cheboygan Co. Drain Commissioner

<p><em><a href="mailto:kramertw@interlochen.org">By Tom Kramer</a></em></p> <p>Cheboygan County Drain Commissioner Dennis Lennox is stepping down.</p> <p>He's recently been the target of a recall effort. But on his website, Lennox says that's not the reason he's leaving the post.</p> <p>He says a full-time private-sector job would interfere with his duties in the elected position.</p> <p>He ran for the job in 2008 and got national media attention for his platform. He said the county didn't need a drain commissioner, and that he would fire himself. That would have required action in the state Legislature. </p>
