The Accidentals released a new single titled 'Heavy Flag' as a call to listeners to engage in the midterm elections.

The Accidentals dropped a new single Friday titled "Heavy Flag" — a song the band says addresses the costs of societal apathy.

The band, which is fronted by Traverse City locals Katie Larson and Sav Buist, says it intentionally released the new single right before the midterm elections.

Buist, who wrote the song, says she was thinking about the future, and the weight and responsibility of the current generation to care for our resources.

You can listen to "Heavy Flag" here.

Dan Wanschura is the Host and Executive Producer of Points North.
