Union nurses and Munson Medical Center in Traverse City have reached a tentative agreement after months of negotiation.

The nurses at Munson Medical Center are finishing up their third week of working under an expired contract. They're planning a "practice strike" on April 9.

The 850 members of the Michigan Nurses Association who work at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City have been working without a contract since March. They took their message to the public this week.

The nurses have all accepted offers after a Munson recruiting trip to the Philippines this past winter. They are still awaiting the approval of their work visas.

The union said virtual appointments are no substitute for in-person care especially in a region that has limited access to the internet.

Some 800 registered nurses at Munson Medical Center have agreed to a new three-year contract after four months of negotiation.

Northern Michigan is expected to see snow over the next few days. When that happens, sidewalks can get treacherous. But some see it as an opportunity to serve their community by making sure the neighborhood is walkable.
