This is Ann Patchett’s third appearance at the National Writers Series. Ann has written many acclaimed and bestselling novels, including “Bel Canto,” “Tom Lake,” and “The Patron Saint of Liars.” Her book “The Dutch House” was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Ann also owns and runs Parnassus Books in Nashville, Tennessee, where she lives. Her latest novel is called “Whistler.” Ann talks this hour with her friend Erin Anderson Whiting, senior charitable giving specialist for the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. They spoke at the City Opera House in Traverse City in June of 2026.
