National Writers Series: Jocelyn Benson

Shawn K Roach

Jocelyn Benson was elected as Michigan’s Secretary of State in 2018. Before that, she was the dean at Wayne State University Law School—the youngest woman ever appointed to lead a law school. Jocelyn has announced her intention to run for Michigan’s governor in 2026. She’s also an author, and her latest book is called “The Purposeful Warrior: Standing Up for What’s Right When the Stakes Are High.” Jocelyn spoke with Doug Stanton at the City Opera House in Traverse City in June of 2025.
