The Metropolitan Opera’s 2021-22 season of Saturday matinee broadcasts continues with the haunting bel canto tragedy Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti.
Soprano Nadine Sierra stars as Lucia, a loving soul in an oppressive world, driven to despair and violence. Tenor Javier Camarena is Edgardo, the only joy in Lucia’s life – and her family’s mortal enemy.
They’re joined by baritone Artur Ruciński as Enrico, Lucia’s ruthless and manipulative brother, and bass Christian Van Horn as the sympathetic chaplain Raimondo.
Riccardo Frizza conducts the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus in Donizetti’s timeless drama, performed in a vivid new production by Simon Stone.
Lucia di Lammermoor will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 21st.
