Kids Commute - World War I Week with Brian McCall

Album cover - "Oh! What a Lovely War!" Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Interlochen's History and Political Science teacher shares music and history of WWI in honor of Veterans Day this week

This week on Kids Commute, in honor of Veterans Day this week, we'll learn about the history and music of World War I.

Interlochen Arts Academy instructor of History and Political Science, Brian McCall, shares stories and song from this "singing war."

While many of the lyrics sound very "ra-ra and pro-war" McCall reminds us they're not to be taken entirely seriously. "Irony," he says, "was born in the trenches."

All week we'll be listening to World War I songs from the soundtrack to the 1969 British film, "Oh! What a Lovely War."

Tune in Monday through Friday at 7:40 and 3:20, or listen any time at the link.

We'll have a tough WWI Quizlet for you, too!
