It's SUMMER WEEK on IPR's Kids Commute - we're going to play you some music to get you inspired for the season!
Today, we'll listen to music Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi. In the year 1725, he wrote a set of sonnets (poems) about the seasons, and then wrote music to go with them.

THE FOUR SEASONS: Summer (1st movement, Allegro)
Antonio Vivaldi
Here's today's Kids Commute:
...and here's the sonnet that Vivaldi wrote for this movement:
Beneath the blazing sun's relentless heat
men and flocks are sweltering,
pines are scorched.
We hear the cuckoo's voice; then the sweet songs of the turtle dove
and the finch are heard.
Soft breezes stir the air...but threatening north wind sweeps them
suddenly aside. The shepherd trembles; fearful of violent storm and what
may lie ahead.
