June Eickholt and Devin Spaulding, both 2025 Interlochen Arts Academy graduates, will be heard on this week's national broadcast of "From the Top."

Trombonist Devin Spaulding and tubist June Eickholt are alumni of Interlochen Center for the Arts. The 2025 graduates will be featured on this week's episode of "From the Top" in performances recorded at Interlochen earlier this year.

Devin Spaulding (Tomball, TX) began playing the trombone in sixth grade and quickly became passionate about music. Prior to his move to the Interlochen Arts Academy, Devin proudly served as drum major for the Tomball High School Marching Band. He is now a freshman at the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cleveland, OH.

He is also a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, which he will use to purchase a new bass trombone.

June Eickholt (Dallas, TX) performed with several ensembles at Interlochen, including the IAA orchestra, wind symphony and various brass quintets. In 2024, June participated in Carnegie Hall’s World Orchestra Week and performed at both Carnegie Hall and the Meyerson Symphony Center. She now studies at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.

At Interlochen, June and Devin studied with Interlochen's Instructor of Low Brass, Tom Riccobono.

For "From the Top," Spaulding played the Concert Piece #24, "Driving - Dreaming" by Brad Edwards. Eickholt played the second movement "Romanza" from the Concerto for Bass Tuba by Ralph Vaughan Williams, accompanied by pianist Dr. Hyemin Kim.

Classical IPR will broadcast the entire program on Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Hear episode 471 of "From the Top" on demand, streaming at this link or on any podcast platform.
