Hear selections from the recent debut concert presented by Traverse City Opera at Kirkbride Hall.

Earlier this month, a brand new opera company made its debut in Traverse City at Kirkbride Hall.

Traverse City Opera called its inaugural program "Found in Translation: A Dramatic Opera Experience."

Traverse City Opera's executive director Lindsey Anderson told IPR that she and her colleagues wanted to show audience members that opera's stories are relevant, relatable and show the human experience.

To help the audience understand the text and emotions of each piece, actors presented modernized English-language translations of each scenario. Sara Hartley prepared the texts for the performance.
