This month is the anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard. In 1998, Shepard, who was gay, was brutally beaten in a hate crime. He later died of his injuries.
Shepard's death brought national attention to hate crimes based on sexual orientation.
On Classical IPR in Concert this week, we present "Considering Matthew Shepard," a choral work by Craig Hella Johnson.
The Interlochen Festival Choir, conducted by John Bragle, performed this work in July of this year.
Tune in Friday at 8 p.m. or Sunday at noon on Classical IPR, or listen below at any time.
This concert was engineered by Molly Monahan with assistance from Michael Culler.
