The site of the former Timber Shores campground, and ancestral land of the Grand Traverse Band of the Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, could soon be returned to the tribe. Newly-awarded grant money from NOAA, coupled with a contribution from the Leelanau County group New Community Vision, is aimed at preserving and restoring the site's land and shoreline along Grand Traverse Bay.
