Theatre Company plans to purchase Cadillac 4 Movie Theater

Cadillac Footliters

Cadillac 4 theatre’s parent company, Goodrich Quality Theaters, is currently in bankruptcy and facing liquidation.

That’s where the Cadillac Footliters come in. The non-profit theatre company lost their home to a fire 30 years ago and have been looking for a new one ever since, said Board President, Joseph Baumann

“With more than 50 years of community support we’re thrilled to be in a position to immediately assume ownership of the Cadillac 4 and establish the next generation of community-owned and driven arts and entertainment in Cadillac,” Baumann said.

Baumann says the theater’s history gives it great potential for the future,

“The Cadillac 4 was originally built in excess of 100 years ago, and was known as the Lyric Theatre. For years and years it had a big beautiful auditorium with an existing live stage and proscenium arch," Baumann said. "It’s my understanding and belief, in everything I’ve seen in sketches and pictures that that stage continues to exist; it just happens to be behind a movie screen.”

The Footliters intend to preserve the movie theater and add a performance, music, and event space for other community groups to use as well.

Money for the purchase is still being raised, says Baumann

“We do have some interested donors already, so we’re well on our way to effectively make the bid, but we can always use supporters," he said.

The Cadillac 4 Theater is expected to be up for bid in the coming months.

The Footliters hopes to have the purchase finalized in the next six-to-eight months.
