As winter approaches, some Michiganders are still weathering the pandemic without a home.
Ashley Halladay-Shmandt, director for Northwest Michigan Coalition to End Homelessness, says anyone unhoused is at a huge risk of catching and spreading the virus, especially during the winter.
“People who are experiencing homelessness are doing community exposure at a different rate than the rest of us,” she said.
Halladay-Schmandt spoke with IPR's Kendra Carr about the current state of homelessness in Northern Michigan and how COVID-19 has impacted housing.
