Classical IPR in conversation with Tony Manfredonia

Tony Manfredonia is a composer who writes for many different instruments, styles and genres. On May 1, the Northern Symphonic Winds will give the world premiere of “On the Threshold of Spring,” a piece they commissioned from Manfredonia.

Manfredonia stopped by Classical IPR to talk about the upcoming world premiere of "On the Threshold of Spring." He explained what the process is like when writing music for a commission.

He also talked about other upcoming premieres, including Three Shakespeare Songs (Bay View Music Festival) and a suite from the game Kharon's Crypt (National Video Game Orchestra of Wales).

Northern Symphonic Winds will give the world premiere performance of Tony Manfredonia’s “On the Threshold of Spring” May 1 at Charlevoix High School. The performance starts at 7 p.m.

Manitou Winds will perform Manfredonia’s WHOA! on May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Traverse City.
