A science teacher at The Pathfinder School was one of two Michigan teachers selected for a week-long trip aboard the Environmental Protection Agency's largest research vessel traveling across Lake Superior.

Mandi Young was aboard the "Lake Guardian," taking water samples, working with EPA scientists, and thinking of ways to bring the experience to her students this school year.

Young spoke with IPR's Vivian La about her trip.

We'll also hear about Traverse City’s Resilience Program, which offers many people living through homelessness a place to talk about their experience.

Reporting for this episode came from Maxwell Howard and Vivian La.
