Up North Lowdown - Interlochen Public Radio, NPR Network

There's a hay shortage in Michigan. In a lot of places, actually.

This week, IPR's Ellie Katz visits a small farm in Grand Traverse County that finds itself in a difficult spot — it relies on hay to feed livestock, but the farm isn't big enough to grow its own.

Plus, IPR arts and culture commentator Joe Beyer tells us about the All Call Music Festival 2023, set for Sunday, Sept. 3 at The Little Fleet in Traverse City.

And in our roundup of Michigan headlines, we hear about Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's legislative priorities, the relationship between credit ratings and car insurance, and a cyber attack at the University of Michigan.

Ed Ronco is IPR's news director.
Max Copeland is the local weekday host of All Things Considered on Interlochen Public Radio and the producer of The Up North Lowdown, IPR’s weekly news podcast.
