Getting to know the Five Slices

High school wind players from across the world bond as they prepare music from Mozart.

Five high school Interlochen Arts Camp wind musicians joined together this summer to form the Five Slices quintet.

The group consists of Samantha Pezacki, flute, Camille Stephens, oboe, Nicolás Moen, horn, Soren Hillesland, bassoon and Tom Wang, clarinet.

This quintet began rehearsing together two weeks ago, but added a member to their group, Soren Hillesland, just a day before this recording. Despite the sudden change, the group added extra rehearsals to make sure they were performance-ready.

The group played the Rondo from Mozart's Serenade No. 11 in Studio A and spoke with Classical IPR about the positive experience of meeting other highly motivated musicians at Interlochen Arts Camp.
