Katarina String Quartet shares their roots

Classical IPR welcomes award-winning Sound Garden Project artists Katarina String Quartet to Studio A.

The Katarina String Quartet was founded in 2022 at McGill University. It is is made up of Maya Enstad, cello, Celia Morin, viola, Jeanel Liang, violin and Jérôme Chiasson, violin. They are Grand Prize winners of the 2025 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and also served as the 2024-2026 Graduate Resident String Quartet at The Juilliard School.

During a recent performance for a live audience in IPR's Studio A, they talked with Classical IPR host Christy L'Esperance about their experience in Northern Michigan, the importance of their Canadian roots and what's coming up for them as they tour this summer.

The Katarina String Quartet will be in Northern Michigan through July 11th for The Sound Garden Project, a collaboration between Glen Arbor Arts Center and Interlochen Public Radio. Their culminating concert will be on the 9th at Oliver Art Center at 7pm.
