Interlochen Arts Camp high school piano students Kotoha Inoue and Olivia Sexton performed music of Tchaikovsky and Bach recently in IPR's Studio A.

Kotoha Inoue and Olivia Sexton have each just finished their first week at this summer's Interlochen Arts Camp.

They visited Studio A to perform and talk about their experiences at camp so far.

Kotoha Inoue is 15 years old. She is originally from Japan and now lives in Hong Kong.

She said that although northern Michigan is quite different than Hong Kong, she still has to watch out for wildlife when she's back at home.

"I live in the mountains in Hong Kong, so there are a lot of wild boars," she explained.

This is Kotoha's first summer at Interlochen Arts Camp, and it's also the first summer for her younger brother Haruto.

They're not spending a lot of quality time together at camp, though. "I say hi to him, but he ignores me," she said, laughing.

Kotoha Inoue performed the "June: Barcarolle" movement from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "The Seasons" in Studio A.

Olivia Sexton is 17 years old and from the Chicago area.

She is currently attending Interlochen Arts Camp for the fifth time. Although she's not sure if she'll return in 2025 for a sixth summer, she will be attending Interlochen Arts Academy this fall.

Olivia Sexton performed the Prelude and Allemande movements from Johann Sebastian Bach's Partita no. 1in B-flat major.
