The 48th Annual Tuba Christmas event is about to blow through town!
Tuba and euphonium players will come to Traverse City - some from as far as 400 miles away - to create a great big, shiny, brassy holiday concert and singalong.
The Northern LOWER Brass Quartet that visited Studio A includes members Jerry Young (Traverse City), Kevin LaRose (Kingsley), Tim Willson (Lake Ann) and Tom Riccobono (Traverse City).
TubaChristmas is an annual holiday treat for the eyes and the ears.
Young, the former president of the International Tuba Euphonium Association, says players decorate their instruments with all kinds of holiday frills.
"It's really fun to see, but the treat is for the ears," Young says.
Young's tuba will remain in its case for this year's concert, though - he'll be on the podium conducting.
You can attend Tuba Christmas (a free concert!) on Saturday, December 10 at 2 p.m. at Traverse City's First Congregational Church.
Encore Winds will perform after the concert, starting at 3 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
This edition of Studio A was engineered by Michael Culler.
