Original Songs with Ronnie Lehr and Sebastian Pardo

Sebastian Pardo and Ronnie Lehr

Hear these Interlochen Arts Academy singer-songwriters perform in Studio A.

Ronnie Lehr and Sebastian Pardo attend the Interlochen Arts Academy. They are students in the singer-songwriter program who study with Andrew Dost and Courtney Kaiser-Sandler.

Ronnie is a student from Florida, and Sebastian comes to Interlochen from Costa Rica.

Recently, the two young artists visited Interlochen Public Radio's Studio A. Each performed one of their own songs ahead of Thursday evening’s Singer-Songwriter Fall Showcase.

After a quick round of rock paper scissors, it was determined Ronnie would perform first. Their song, Grieving Myself, is an acknowledgement of the emotions behind a happy face.

"I love keeping people around me happy. And even when I'm upset, frustrated or anxious, I tend to keep smiling through it," they explained about the song. "This is me finding an outlet to release that if I'm not talking to somebody about it."

Sebastian spoke about the origins of his song, Balcony Talks. He wrote it during a school trip to Paris.

"This song basically talks about the best time of my life," he shared, "and kind of wanting to go back a little."

The Singer-Songwriter Fall Showcase is Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 7:30 pm in the Dendrinos Chapel Recital Hall at Interlochen Center for the Arts. No tickets are required, and admission is free.
