Welcome to Intermezzo from Interlochen Public Radio, where we take a few minutes to bounce some ideas around about classical music.
Christy L'Esperance and her cohost, 11-year-old Vivienne, will talk about Circus Arts. So far, we've explored windjammers, screamers and stunts done high in the air.
When we talk about spinning plates or dangerous and amazing juggling acts, a piece of music that started as part of a ballet by Aram Khachaturian comes to mind. The dancers swing big swords around — it's pretty amazing to watch. And you can get a sense of the excitement just from the "Sabre Dance" by Aram Khachaturian.
