A Lang Lang summer: Oliva Larco plays Mozart — Thursday

Olivia Larco spent her summer touring with the Lang Lang Young Scholars. Hear her perform music by Mozart recorded in IPR's Studio A on "Intermezzo."

While school is out for summer, we're giving you a sneak peak into this season of Intermezzo's content. This is Summer School with the Lang Lang Young Scholars.

Some teens went on summer vacations to the beach or the movies, but the Lang Lang Young Scholars have spent this summer touring around the world. They even stopped by northern Michigan venues for a series of special recitals and events.

About Olivia Larco

15 years old, from Pasadena, California

What imagery are you thinking of when performing?

"This piece has a nickname, 'The Hunt.' It has a very lively feel, like a fox hunt in the morning. It's very theatrical in a way.

"I also imagine an opera scene, maybe in a ballroom with lots of dialogue. It almost seems like two people talking to each other in a playful way. Once the tempo picks up, it's like they're dancing and getting faster and faster."
