We've got a special guest: Danny Feldman, the Producing Artistic Director of the Tony Award-winning Pasadena Playhouse in California joining Kate this week to share some of his favorite Sondheim songs, talk about how a whole theatre company can win a Tony Award, and the lessons we can all learn from the great musical theatre composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim.
In their 2022-2023 season, the Pasadena Playhouse dedicated six months of their programming to a "Sondheim Celebration", honoring the life and work of the composer after his death in November 2021.
Here's a indie arrangement of "Children Will Listen", performed by Eleri Ward, who was one of the performers that was a part of their celebration.
And while the Playhouse's ticketed celebration has come to a close, audiences can continue to celebrate Sondheim through this week of Classical Sprouts, Kids Commute, listening to cast albums, and by attending local theatrical productions!
Go Into the Woods and to Ancient Rome, learn how to whistle and how to listen, and revive an old theatre back to its original glory!
Here's Danny accepting the Regional Tony Award on the behalf of the Pasadena Playhouse!
