Northern Michigan hospitals seeking donated supplies to fight COVID-19

Munson Healthcare, McLaren Northern Michigan and the Grand Traverse County Health Department are asking the public to donate medical supplies and protective gear.

They are asking for the following items in new and original packaging:

  • Disposable face masks
  • N95 masks, sometimes called respirators
  • Eye protection including face shields and safety goggles
  • Disposable gowns
  • Disposable gloves, especially non-latex
  • Disposable surgical caps
  • Disposable foot covers
  • Wipes: bleach or antimicrobial
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Non-contact forehead thermometers
  • PAPRs (powered air-purifying respirators) and PAPR hoods
  • Nasal testing swabs
  • Viral testing kits

Donations can be dropped off at these locations and times:

Rehabilitation Center Cadillac
300 Evart St. Cadillac, MI
Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon

Charlevoix Physician's Clinic
14709 W. Upright, Building D, Charlevoix, MI
Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Manistee Community Health Center
1345 E. Parkdale Ave. Manistee, MI
Main entrance vestibule Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon

Goodwill Northern Michigan
2779 W. South Airport Road, Traverse City, MI
Monday to Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Otsego County Fair Board Office

Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m.

McLaren Northern Michigan
The hospital is asking people to call 231-487-3500 to arrange a drop off time for your donation. DO NOT bring your donations directly to the hospital or emergency departments – they are restricting visitors at this time.

To schedule a time to drop off donations, please call 231-995-6024, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Max came to IPR in 2017 as an environmental intern. In 2018, he returned to the station as a reporter and quickly took on leadership roles as Interim News Director and eventually Assignment Editor. Before joining IPR, Max worked as a news director and reporter at Michigan State University's student radio station WDBM. In 2018, he reported on a Title IX dispute with MSU in his story "Prompt, Thorough and Impartial." His work has also been heard on Michigan Radio, WDBM and WKAR in East Lansing and NPR.
