The Medal of Honor is the United States highest military honor.

It’s awarded to soldiers for “conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty.”

Beyond Glory is a book that features 24 Medal of Honor recipients, in their own words. It’s written by Charlevoix native, Larry Smith.

When actor Stephen Lang read the book, he said it knocked him out. “The guys are so authentic,” he says. “Their words are so unvarnished.”

Lang created a one-man play based on eight of the men featured in Beyond Glory. Now, a performance documentary film of the same name has been produced based on his play.

The film will make its Michigan premiere this weekend at the Old Art Building in Leland.
