The Black Lake Sturgeon Shivaree festival runs Friday and Saturday.

It rings in a brief, five-day fishing season for lake sturgeon along the frozen waters between Cheboygan and Presque Isle counties.

The festival features live music, a poker run and an ice-fishing contest.

Lake Sturgeon season runs Feb. 1 to 6 with a harvest limit of six sturgeon total. Not per person. Six, for everyone involved.
