Walking tours at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey tell the stories of the victims, survivors and heroes of catastrophes in Little Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan.

Walking tours at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey tell the stories of the victims, survivors and heroes of catastrophes in Little Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan.

Renee Tanner will lead the tours and talk about the tragedy of "The Coral." Five people died and five survived.

These stories hold human connections to other accidents that occurred by land and sea.

Tanner has put together a booklet of her research including old newspaper sources and photos. Copies will be available for folks who couldn’t make the tour.

She spoke with IPR's Tyler Thompson about "The Coral," our perspective of Little Traverse Bay, and more.

Find more details on the Tuesday, Sept. 3 event here.

Tyler Thompson is the Morning Edition host and reporter at Interlochen Public Radio.
