In December 2023, students in the the Interlochen Arts Academy Opera Workshop presented "Hänsel und Gretel," an opera by Engelbert Humperdinck.
His sister Adelheid Wette wrote the libretto and based it on the Grimm brothers’ fairy tale of the same name.
"Hänsel und Gretel" was first performed on December 23, 1893 and has been closely associated with the Christmas season ever since.
