Beginning this June, Interlochen Center for the Arts will offer a new summer day camp for local children. The Arts Discovery day camp will give students ages 7-12 the chance to experience Interlochen Arts Camp at a reduced cost, with flexible one-week sessions between June 20 and August 5.
Registration for the program began Tuesday, Feb. 1 at interlochen.org/day-camp.
“We’re thrilled to launch the Arts Discovery day camp and provide a fun and affordable way for local children to experience our world-renowned creative community,” said Interlochen Executive Dean of Enrollment Management Katherine Luellen. “As we continue to strengthen our many partnerships and connections with the greater Grand Traverse region, this enriching new program is a natural next step.”
Arts Discovery day camp students will have the opportunity to work with Interlochen’s summer arts faculty and experience music, dance and theater dress rehearsals and performances at Interlochen Arts Camp.
Each week will feature a unique theme, with arts activities and enrichment. Students will also explore the outdoors with environmental workshops in ecology and sustainability, taking advantage of Interlochen’s 1,200-acre campus, including its R. B. Annis Botanical Lab and Community Garden.
