WIAA 88.7 FM at reduced power - repairs are in progress

WIAA 88.7 FM at reduced power: May-June 2025

Classical IPR's WIAA 88.7 FM signal is currently operating at reduced power.

Those in the Traverse City area can listen on 94.7 FM.

Update 4/26/2025 6:25 p.m.: 88.7 FM will be off the air intermittently on Sunday April 27, 2025 for testing.

Update 4/27/2025 2:37 p.m.: 88.7 FM is back on the air after about an hour off. This was to complete diagnostic testing.

Update 4/29: 88.7 FM remains at low power until further notice. The antenna is damaged. Once tower climbers can be secured to replace the damaged section, 88.7 FM can return to full power.

Update 5/12: A tower crew is scheduled to begin repairs during the week of May 19, 2025. These repairs will require 88.7 FM to be off the air entirely for the safety of the crew.

Update 5/19: The tower crew has been delayed. Repairs are now scheduled to take place during the week of May 26, 2025. These repairs will require 88.7 FM to be off the air entirely for the safety of the crew.

Update 5/27: Inclement weather in the forecast will delay the scheduled repair until the end of this week or the beginning of next week. These repairs will require 88.7 FM to be off the air entirely for the safety of the crew.

Update 5/30/2025: The tower crew is currently scheduled to repair the antenna on Monday, June 2, weather permitting. IPR's signal strength will be significantly reduced during the repair window.

Update 6/2/2025: The tower crew began their work, and the 88.7 FM signal was reduced very low for their safety. Inspection and repairs will continue through this week, weather permitting.

Update 6/9/2025: Repairs are on hold this week due to a conflict with the tower company's schedule. The crew is expected to resume repairs next week.
